"We convey highest appreciation for the initiative of PT. Suntory Garuda Beverage to preserve water and environment through education to children, school coaching and train-the-teacher programs, as well as water conservation facilities. We support the Mizuiku program to be carried out sustainably as an integral part of the Environmental Care and Cultivated Movement in Schools (GPBLHS). Well-structured modules, interesting learning components, competency of reliable facilitators and close collaboration with the teachers and schools are the keys to the success of this Mizuiku Program. Together we create a cleaner and greener Indonesia for future generations," said Cicilia Sulastri, SH., M.Sc. Head of the Community Training and Development Center for Environmental Generations - Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia.

Ong Yuh Hwang, Chief Executive Officer & President Director, Suntory Garuda Beverage, said, “As part of the Mizuiku - I Love Clean Water program to promote awareness and the importance of clean water to children, Suntory Garuda Beverage realizes that it is very important to empower school teachers as the frontlines of children’s education. We are aware of the importance of teacher’s role in the process of sustainable environmental education for children. Therefore, as we have been implementing this program since 2019, the Mizuiku program is not only targeting elementary school children, but also on improving the competency of teachers so that this educational program can be implemented effectively and sustainably, through a series of Train-the-Trainer modules. "

Mizuiku training for teachers began in 2019 and in the second year, this training was kicked-off with a joint discussion forum with related government agencies, both the Environment as well as Education Services, coming from six Mizuiku areas, namely West Jakarta, South Jakarta, Gowa, Banjar, Tangerang and Sidoarjo. In this forum, Mizuiku team received valuable inputs from the Head of Offices of both agencies for improvement. In collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia and the Association of Indonesian Adiwiyata Activists (HPAI), Mizuiku for Teachers in 2020 comprises a comprehensive set of materials. This included the Environmental Care and Cultivated Movement in Schools (GPBLHS) Program Policy, Adiwiyata school criteria, climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts, water conservation activities such as tree planting, biopores and waste management, to materials on how schools identify water potentials and problems in their schools (IPMLH) and integrating Mizuiku in their teaching program plans (RPP).

For approximately 2 weeks from mid-September, teaching materials and tests were uploaded on the Official Youtube Channel Suntory Garuda Beverage. All participating teachers then downloaded and studied the materials thoroughly. Following this, several virtual questions and answers (Q&A) sessions were held, hosted by Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry and Indonesian Adiwiyata Activists Association (HPAI), through Google Meet and the Whatsapp group. Preparing teaching program plans (RPP) including teaching strategies and innovations to integrate teaching materials in water and environment preservation into every day school subjects for elementary students, is one of the crucial requirements for all participating teachers to obtain a graduation certificate. In addition, million-rupiah prizes are available for the best innovations.

Running simultaneously with an educational program, Mizuiku also provides access to clean water and sanitation, water conservation through rainwater harvesting, biopores, greening and management of plastic waste, to schools and communities in the Company's production sites. These are real initiatives from Mizuiku for a cleaner and greener Indonesia, so that we together can pass on the healthy environment and clean water to the next generation.
